Thousands of flavours to be explored

from all over the world

The city has a fast growing reputation for its excellent culinary offers ranging from chain restaurants to independent family-owned establishments. Birmingham city centre has over 200 restaurants and eateries, five of which are Michelin-starred restaurants. Visitors can chose from takeaway outlets, cafes or fine dining and experience flavours from every corner of the globe including the Carribean, The Middle East and the Americas.

  • More Michelin-starred restaurants than any other UK city outside of London
  • 100 Balti houses in the city's renowned Balti Triangle
  • Tastes from 27 countries around the world

Birmingham hosts a huge amount of food and drink markets and festivals each year on the city’s streets and at indoor arenas around the city each year. Annual events include Digbeth Dining Club, The BBC Good Food Show, Colmore Food Festival and The German Christmas Market. Visit the Farmers Markets at The Bullring, Birmingham University and Brindley Place, which visit the city monthly (on a seasonal basis) to find fresh, local, environmentally friendly produce at reasonable prices.

As the city that invented the Balti, Birmingham is the home to the Balti Triangle where over 100 Indian restaurants are clustered just outside of the city centre. Visit more Indian restaurants in the city than anywhere else in the UK, many of which are award-winning restaurants from the English Curry Awards.
